Former Use: 835, 1011, 1013, and 1015 North Washington Avenue Parcels 01-0549-00000, 01-0550-00000, 01-0550-00200, 01-0550-00100: 1895: several unmarked buildings and a stable. 1901: Storage, stable, dwelling, United States Graphite Company. 1925: stable, residence, Morris Nover Iron, junkyard. 1936: Auto wrecking yard, C.A. Niederstadt Company coal & builders supply, gasoline filling station w/2 UST's. 1940: tire & gas filling station added, used car lot. 1944: wrecking yard, junk dealers, scrap metal processor. 1950: UST added. 1009, 1111, 1113, 1117 North Washington Avenue Parcels 01-0624-00000, 01-0622-00000, 01-0621-00000, and 01-0585-00000: 1860's: commercial and industrial purposes. Historical operations on this property have included: leather tannery, copper smith, and scrap metal yard. Various structures associated with these operations have been present on the subject property. 1227 North Washington Avenue Parcel 01-0935-00000: 1895~1901: Vacant land. 1901 until approximately 1955, the Carlisle Tannery expanded operations. By 1967, the tannery had been removed and the subject property was filled to allow for future reuse as a scrap yard, by Ruben Schultz. By 1992, the scrap yard operations had been disbanded and the property was reverted to the State of Michigan. From at least 1992 the subject property has consisted of vacant land. The property, in its entirety, is currently vacant and not utilized for any obvious purpose.
