Additional Property Attributes

The City of Euclid purchased the Former St. Roberts Property to hold for future development that will be consistent with the Euclid Waterfront Improvements Plan. The Citys goal is to bring the Property back onto to the tax duplicate and to utilize its unique location in relation to the Lake to created connectivity with the southern residential neighborhoods. A multi-purpose trail, commercial redevelopment and greenspace currently are proposed for the 7.63-acre Property. To prepare the Property for redevelopment, the buildings must be abated of all asbestos-containing materials prior to demolition. The rectory and convent are slated for demolition first. In the short term, the Citys Department of Recreation will establish ball fields to ease the demand currently experienced at the City parks.

Former Use: The Former St. Roberts Property was initially developed with a house in 1925. In 1952, a church and school were constructed adjacent to the east of the house, along Lakeshore Boulevard. The house became a rectory for the parish priest, and multiple additions subsequently were constructed. A convent, which was constructed in 1958, was located near the southern property boundary. In 2009, the Cleveland Diocese made the decision to close St. Roberts. The City of Euclid acquired the Property in February 2011. The Property has been vacant since the Citys acquisition.
