Additional Property Attributes

In late 2011, the City's Brownfield Program completed a file review, a precursor to a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), and scoped a limited Phase II ESA, for several parcels currently and historically used for industrial and utility purposes on the edge of the Atlanta Industrial Park and the Chattahoochee River. The properties are largely undeveloped but contain significant forested land, wetlands and ponds. This area is also at the confluence of the Chattahoochee River and Proctor Creek. There are recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) from adjacent, off-site industrial properties. The brownfield sites are targeted to become part of the 100-mile Chattahoochee Riverlands Corridor. The planning for the Corridor is currently underway with a $1.5 million grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission. As momentum for completing the Corridor grows, so does interest for cleanup and redevelopment. In 2017, implementing partners for the Corridor purchased several of the properties for $167,000.

Former Use: The site consisted of undeveloped wooded land or agricultural land from at least 1938 until the power line right-of-way was constructed in the late 1960s. Adjacent to industrial park.
