Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Based on a review of readily available records, the Site appears to be developed prior to 1885. The 1885 Sanborn Fire Insurance Map depicts single family residences located at the Site. During the years between 1901 and 1910 some of the residences located at the Site were removed and a warehouse was constructed for the Miles Medical Company. Elkhart County property records indicate that the structure was constructed in 1906. A coal shed replaced additional domestic residences at the Site between the years 1910 1917. According to the EDR Sanborn Fire Insurance Map Report (Appendix E) the warehouse expanded to encompass the entirety of the Site, removing the coal shed, between 1917 and 1927. The Miles Medical Company warehouse appears to have occupied the Site until Nagles Office Supply Inc. took up occupancy of the Site between 1968 and 1970. Nagles Office Supply utilized the Site until the current owners (JDA Properties) purchased the Site in 1987. Under JDA Property ownership, Exhibiteam Inc. (manufacturer of trade show exhibits) operated at the Site from 1987 until they vacated the Site between 1990 and 1995. According to Barney Ash (owner) following Exhibiteam leaving the Site, a variety of occupants have utilized the Site including: a church, Northwest Interiors (manufactured quilts), and the current occupant Premier Arts.
