Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Staker Parsons and Oldcastle contained aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) without secondary containment systems. Additionally, 55-gallon drums were stored improperly and have no secondary containment. Areas of heavy staining were located on the interiors and exteriors of Staker Parsons and Oldcastle. Raw materials used in cement production/concrete casting include limestone, marl, and chalk, which are common sources of calcium in cement (converted into lime through calcinations) silica (silicon), iron, and aluminum. Common sources of silica include clay, sand, and shale. Certain waste products, such as fly ash, can also be used as a silicon source. The iron and aluminum can be provided as iron ore and bauxite, but recycled metals can also be used. Due to these raw materials, historically stored and used onsite, soil and groundwater potentially may have elevated pH levels and may be impacted by heavy metals. Historical RECs identified on-site from previous property owners were White WR Company Concrete Products, Waterfall Construction Company, and Fife Rock Products. Off-site RECs from property owners in the assumed up gradient direction east adjoining properties historically were Brewers Service Station (1690 Wall Avenue) and Barrett Lloyd Service & Gas Station (1690 Wall Avenue). These types of facilities typically use and store petroleum and solvents in connection with operations.
