Cleanup/Treatment Implemented: Y
Cleanup/Treatement Categories:
Addl Cleanup/Treatment info: ACM was removed from the building except for certain areas due to access limitations or historical preservation (such as fire doors, assumed to contain asbestos within the doors). LBP was encapsulated in place, with a double encapsulation of areas likely to have the most contact with occupants or experience the most wear (door jams, pillars, stairwell railing, columns). Some LBP was removed and transported offsite for disposal. A total of 150 cubic yards of ACM were removed and disposed of under manifest to the Benson Valley Landfill. Blast media and LBP totaling 64 cubic yards were transported off-site under manifest to the Waste Management Outer Loop Recycling Disposal Facility. PCBs were found in some paints, caulk, and blast media generated during remediation. The PCB containing paints were not removed and were encapsulated since the paints also contained lead. Expansion joint caulk found to contain PCBs was removed. Based on concentrations of the materials containing PCBs, the materials were not considered PCB remediation waste and thus were not classified as hazardous waste. Presently, there are no known or identified PCB containing caulks or other integral building materials (i.e. transformers, light ballasts, etc.) located in the building (aside from encapsulated paint).
