Additional Property Attributes

The Recreation Center was built in 1921 by Carnegie Steel Corporation as a gathering point and recreation center for its employees and residents of the village. The village and the Subject Property, owned by Carnegie Steel, were sold to a realtor in 1941. The Young Men�s Christian Association YMCA took ownership of the Property in 1942, and sold it to the Village in 1968. The building is two stories, an attic, and a basement with each floor of the building being approximately 4,200 square feet. An elevator and handicapped entrance were installed in 2000 at the rear of the building. The building is currently in use as a post office, senior center, and an accountant�s office. The buildingis currently underutilized and the Village intends to remove the asbestos and develop the entire building for reuse. Specific reuse options have not been determined.
