Additional Property Attributes

The Site is currently vacant and utilized only on a limited basis for school and community storage but formerly operated as a public school. The Site's improvements consist of an approximately 32,000 square feet, one-story structure with two storm cellars completed in 1962 with small additions to the existing north and west wings which were added in 1966. The structure was historically utilized as a public school. The Site was purchased by Independent School District No. 7, Washita County, Oklahoma Burns Flat-Dill City Public Schools in three transactions dated April 16, 1962, August 11, 1966, and August 15, 1966. Industrial and manufacturing operations were not observed at the Site.

Former Use: The Site is currently vacant and utilized only for school and community storage but formerly operated as a public elementary school and is referred to as the Former John Ross School. The Site was undeveloped prior to the completion of a grade school in 1962. The Site was operated as a grade school through the end of the 1960s when it was closed because of declining enrollment associated with the closure of a military base. Between the 1970s and 1990s, the school was used on a limited basis by the district. In the 1990s and 2000s, the school has been used by a number of community groups including the Washita County COOP, regional education center, and the Boy Scouts of America. Most recently the Site has been used for community organization and school district storage.
