Additional Property Attributes

The Williams Air Force Base Parcel N had archeological evidence of past use by the Gila River Tribe, so it was determined to be culturally-significant to the tribe. The tribe decided to purchase the property and have also agreed to acquire an adjacent parcel that was formerly a landfill. The 1994 Record of Decision for the property indicated the presence of the pesticide dieldrin and beryllium above cleanup standards, so a permeable cap was placed over the landfill. The groundwater below the landfill is contaminated with TCE and PCE, and the source of these contaminants is unknown. (PPF - Williams AFB Conversion Parcel N Transfer, 4/14/05)

Former Use: Air force base, landfill
