Additional Property Attributes

BTA conducted for private property owner (with City Support) for a property with environmental uncertainties that is proposed for redevelopment in the historic downtown. RECs were potential groundwater contamination from hazardous substances associated with a historical dry cleaning facility and blacksmith shop, both of which were located on the up-gradient adjoining property to the west. Due to the potential for impacts to groundwater, a Phase II assessment was conducted. Results of the Phase II indicated no contaminants were detected in the groundwater above KDHE RSK levels and the property is cleared for reuse/redevelopment. An Asbestos Building Survey was also conducted concurrently with the Phase I assessment. ACM was identified in the building and the applicant will be advised to work with the KDHE Asbestos Control Section to comply with all Federal and State regulations with respect to the asbestos.

Former Use: Dating back to approximately 1893, historical uses include a barber shop, grocery store, bakery, shoe repair facility, residential house and sotrage.
