Additional Property Attributes

The portion of the Original Pepper Distillery not containing Asbestos has been renovated and turned into a restaurant and brewery (Ethereal Brewing). Another smaller building onsite has been renovated and is being used as a bar ("The Break Room"). The warehouse onsite is still being used for warehousing but plans are being developed for reuse as a multi-use (commercial and residential).

Former Use: The property is the former James E. Pepper Distillery; a bourbon distillery that operated from 1934 until 1958. The original distillery production facilities and the multi-story warehouse are still standing. Since 1958, the property has been owned by Schenley Distillers, Inc., Land Developement Company, and is currently owned by Pepper Distillery, LLC. Pepper Distillery, LLC and the Lexington Distillery District are spearheading a public-private partnership to redevelop the Manchester Street corridor surrounding the property.
