Additional Property Attributes

"Possible asbestos containing material (ACM) and lead-based paint (LBP) found within the structure on the site; Historically, the hospital is listed as a Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) site with underground storage tanks (USTs) currently active approximately 100 feet from the site; Historically, an incinerator was used for bio-waste in the basement of the building."

Former Use: The site is a hospital that is currently owned by the applicant, the Audrain County Hospital (c/o Sterling Oliver, Chairman Board of Trustees). The site consists of an addition that was built in 1931. A previous assessment that was completed in the 1990's identified that the addition contained asbestos and lead-based paint. The applicant notes that asbestos tiles are crumbling and lead-based paint is peeling, so the site is not safe for occupancy. The site has been closed to use since 1995. The long term goal is to raze the building to allow green space for patients, visitors, and employees as well as additional parking for Emergency Department patients. Based on the information from the previous assessment, lead-based paint and asbestos containing materials may be present, so a limited lead-based paint/ACM survey may be needed.
