Additional Property Attributes

The property is to be developed with a grocery store (ShopRite), parking lot, and landscaped areas in 2012, with the store due to open during the first quarter of 2013. Investigation discovered the presence of eight underground petroleum storage tanks and some contaminated soil and groundwater. With oversight from the State of Maryland's Oil Control program, the tanks were removed, 705 tons of soil excavated and disposed of at a regulated facility and 211 gallons of liquids removed.

Former Use: A Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) indicated that underground storage tanks (USTs) associated with a former gasoline station (dating back to the 1920s) located on the northern corner of the intersection of Maine Avenue and Gwynn Oak Avenue may still be present on-site.
