Additional Property Attributes

This site is known as the OCURA East parcel. Cleanup at this site is ongoing. A partial cleanup was conducted with the $350,000 ARRA subgrant. It removed several underground tanks and free product from the groundwater on OCURA East. The Subject Property consists of approximately two (2) acres of vacant land. This area was once developed with commercial operations, various industries, and oil and gas wells. The area is generally flat, with a gentle slope toward the east. Adjacent properties include: Springhill Suites by Marriott (to the South), The Steelyards Apartments mixed use development (adjacent to the West), the Bricktown Fire Station (adjacent to the North), and S. Lincoln Boulevard and vacant land to the East. This site is enrolled in DEQ's Brownfield Certificate program, where it will continue the site cleanup. Once the certificate is issued, then the site can be counted as cleaned up in ACRES. The cleanup started at this site with a $350,000 petroleum subgrant from DEQ's ARRA supplemental RLF grant. Remediation was employed on the petroleum contaminated groundwater beneath the site. The plume rebounded, which indicates that contamination is coming onto the subject property from off-site. 2.42 temporary jobs were created during the ARRA funded cleanup. OCURA East site is currently being used as a construction staging area for the construction of the hotel and mix used residential developments on the neighboring parcels. Former Use: Past uses on the Subject Property include an oil and gas production well(s), numerous above ground storage tanks; and also indicated oil/gas wells, railroad yard, and various industrial uses on up gradient surrounding properties. The oil/gas well operations on the Subject Property, as well as those on adjacent properties, are considered to be RECs based on the fact that little is known about the well operations over the years, including integrity of mechanical equipment, whether there were associated reserve pits and/or any spills, and the questionable practice of the day during those times.
