Property Highlights

Former Use: Beginning in the late 19th century, this site was used for casket and furniture manufacturing and then exclusively furniture manufacturing until operations at the site ceased in January 2011. Blighted buildings that are unheated and lack fire protection occupy the site. The causer, Oshkosh Furniture, LLC, is presumed insolvent. Previous assessments were conducted in 2006 and early 2012. The 2012 assessments were conducted on behalf of the lender. The DNR has determined that these assessments do not constitute adequate assessments of the property due to failure to adequately identify RECs, which in turn lead to an insufficient recommendation for further investigation. A new complete round of assessments is necessary in order to determine the extent of the contamination and what, if any, additional actions are necessary at the site.
