Additional Property Attributes

The subject property is the former Tyson Fresh Meats Plant located at 1600 South Pine Road (also known as 1600 South Pine Industrial Road) in Norfolk, Madison County, Nebraska. The subject property was developed as a beef processing facility. The subject property consists of six parcels and includes a former beef processing plant encompassing approximately 228,882 square feet, a garage encompassing approximately 5,940 square feet, the former waste treatment building encompassing approximately 2,100 square feet, and a storage shed encompassing approximately 800 square feet. The facility was historically used as a beef processing facility and is currently vacant. While records indicate past overfill contamination from removal of a diesel UST, site conditions and planned property use (industrial) are such that this does not pose a REC. Lead-based paint and asbestos-contamining building materials survey are recommended prior to renovation or demolition activities.

Former Use: The facility was historically used as a beef processing facility and is currently vacant. The subject property was owned by Beef America until 1989, during that time cattle were slaughtered at the facility. The subject property was owned by Iowa Beef Processors, Inc. until 2001 when Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. purchased the property. The former beef processing plant closed on February 17, 2006 because it was not economical to continue operation.
