Additional Property Attributes

The property changed hands prior to assessment with the current owner carrying the contract. The previous owner excavated soils and farmed them onsite to address what was thought to be solvent impacted soils. All without Ecology oversight or input. The previous owner abandoned the property leaving stockpiled soils onsite. Therefore, the original owner retained the property on default. The site remained underutilized for more than a year. The area is a major commercial corridor with Fred Meyer located just southwest of the site. The site was consider blighted during feedback from outreach activities. Fred Meyer was interested in purchasing the property to build a fuel station, but was concerned about the environmental unknowns.

Former Use: The site was recently used as a wood pallet manufacturing facility. Previous uses includes a shop and trucking facility. Marty Haberman purchased the property from Pautzke Bait Company in late 1993. In 1999 Marty Haberman sold the site to Pan Pacific Forest Products, Inc. In 2003 Pan Pacific Forest sold the site back to Martin Haberman. Products Fred Meyer Stores, Inc.s interest in the site prompted a Phase I and limited Phase II ESA.
