Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The parcel was purchased by the City of Wilmington in 1912 and used as a maintenance garage since at least 1939. Eight structures are on the parcel: the former Wilmington city garage, the former storm water building, the former dog pound, a Quonset building that was formerly a warehouse, a former tire storage building, and a former vehicle storage garage. Three additional buildings had been recently demolished: an open-sided covered storage area north of the storm water building, a storage shed north of the dog pound, and a former carpenter shop east of the Wilmington city garage. The Wilmington city garage building has been partially renovated and that portion is occupied by Dreams of Wilmington, a non-profit organization that provides after-school art and music instruction to children. The former storm water building holds a youth boxing club. The remaining portion of the property is vacant.
