Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: In Sanborn Fire Insurance maps dated 1910 and 1915, the parcel is depicted as occupied by the Universal Oil and Fertilizer Company. The oil referred to in the name is peanut oil, and the numerous oil tanks depicted on the map are most likely peanut oil tanks; however, two of the ASTs appear to be for petroleum storage. In the 1910 Sanborn map, a naphtha storage area is depicted on the south end of the parcel. The parcel was purchased by the City in 1945. Interviews reveal that from the early 1980s to 2005, the parcel was used for to store debris from cleaning storm drain pipes, street sweeping, ditch cleaning, and creek bed cleaning. Once dry, debris was taken to the landfill. From 2005 to 2007, the parcel was used for storage. Currently the parcel is vacant and covered with vegetation.
