Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Whitefish Credit Union Commercial Loan Building is located at 215 East Idaho Street in Kalispell, Montana. The legal description for the property is All of lots Seven (7) and Eight (8) of Block Three (3) of Kalispell, Montana that comprise approximately 0.3 acres of land. Title records indicate the two lots were predominantly owned by private individuals with the exception of Gulf Oil Corporation (August 7, 1967 to March 3, 1974) and Mount Powell Enterprises (March 3, 1974 to May 3, 1977), which correspond with the development and operation of a gas station on the Site. Information from Polk Directories confirms this time is concurrent with the Site being occupied by Curleys Gulf Service Station. The results of the aerial photographic review also verify the property was used as a retail fuel distributor as evidenced by the pump islands located adjacent to East Idaho Street. The Site was purchased by the Whitefish Credit Union Association on October 23, 1980 as their initial location in Kalispell. The renovation plans show the original building was used as a gas station prior to being remodeled and converted into the Whitefish Credit Union. The site plan indicated that there were two fuel dispenser islands along East Idaho Street, and three underground storage tanks (USTs) located on the west side of the building. In addition, there were floor drains in the two service bays. The USTs were closed in place prior to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Subtitle I Underground Storage Tank Program regulations being enacted in 1987.
