Additional Property Attributes

The project site was once a parking lot used by the City of Alameda's police department. The sit is now used to provide housing for adults with development disabilities. Residential building includes patios, garden, and landscaping as greenspace. Jack Capon Villa is one of the few supportive service-enriched independent living options in Alameda County for extremely and low-income individuals with developmental disabilities.

Former Use: The site appears to have been developed with a dwelling, hen yard/coop, and windmill/water tank/pump house as early as 1897. A garage appears to have been constructed on the site in the mid-1920s. The residential structure and related outbuildings appear to have been removed from the site by 1965. The asphalt paved parking lot appears to have constructed by the mid-1970s. The City of Alameda owned the site from 1977 through 2010; the City of Alameda Community Improvement Commission owned the site from 2010 through 2011. The site, prior to remediation, was owned by the Housing Authority of the City of Alameda and used by the City of Alameda for parking city vehicles.
