Additional Property Attributes

The closure of the three USTs and one hydraulic lift system at 420 McRae Street in Wilmington, North Carolina was conducted in accordance with the NCDENR Guidelines. Based on AMEC�s observations and laboratory results, we have developed the following conclusion: The gasoline UST system, including three USTs, two dispenser islands and associated product lines were successfully removed from the site. Soil sampling conducted around the UST pit and beneath the dispenser islands did not indicate a soil impact from the tanks. Based on the successful removal of the UST system, the soil sampling results that indicated no impact to the surrounding soils and the absence of groundwater at the UST pit, AMEC requests a determination of No Further Action from the NCDENR.

Former Use: The Subject Site is located at 418 & 420 McRae Street in Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina. The Subject Site is comprised of two parcels totalling approximately 0.12 acres. The northern lot has concrete ground cover remaining from past uses as a developed property. The southern lot is over grown with vegetation. Access to the site is available via two driveway entrances from Rankin Street and one driveway entrance from McRae Street. The Subject Site is located in a mixed used area of Wilmington, North Carolina that includes residential and commercial properties. The Subject Site is currently owned by Geraldine Armstrong. According to the EDR Environmental Lien and AUL Search, Geraldine Armstrong has owned the property since 1986. According to historical research, the Subject Site was historically utilized as a fuel oil filling station in the 1950s and 1960s.
