Additional Property Attributes

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) conducted a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) for the City of Coffeyville on a property with environmental uncertainties proposed for residential redevelopment. Based on the Phase I report, Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) were identified as potential releases of hazardous substances and petroleum contaminants associated with the historic use of the property as a former machine shop and warehouse and an electrical substation and transformer storage yard. Due to the potential for soil and groundwater impacts, a Phase II assessment was completed January 9 and 10, 2014. A total of 10 soil and two groundwater samples were collected and sbumitted for for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and volatile organic compound (VOC) analysis. Based on results of the Phase II investigation, no contaminants of concern were identified on the subject property and the property is cleared for redevelopment.

Former Use: City machine shop/warehouse (1923 to 1962); electrical substation (early 90's); electrical equipment storage yard (mid 90's to 2000;s); vacant (mid-2000's to present)
