Additional Property Attributes

The historical use of the site as former gas stations from 1928 through at least 1959 and also a former auto sales facility could identify this site as a REC facility. Also this facility was identified as a District of Columbia Leaking Underground Storage Tank site and the numerous adjacent and surrounding properties of concern identified on the Fire Insurance Maps and city directories, including dry cleaners, gas stations, auto repairs and used car delershio are sufficent reason to consider this facility as a REC.

Former Use: This site consist of an 8,171 sq ft parcel of vacant land with a small building located on the eastern portion, southeast of the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Park Road, in the Columbia Heights neighborhood in the northwest quadrangle of Washington, DC. The site is located in a mixed-use area consisting of commercial and residential land uses and is covered essentially with asphalt. The site is currently owned by Andrew J Richeson. It is also noted that the site was identified on the Historical Auto Database and contained the Park View Shell Service Gasoline Station in 1954. From 1922-1948, the site was owned by Chas F. Widmayer and was followed by Shell service station from 1960 through 1964, followed by a used car dealership in 1993 and then by an indivdual, Andrew Richeson in 2000.
