Additional Property Attributes

The historical use of the site consisting of residences, little tavern shop, restaurant, used auto sales, dwelling, and office has made it a potential REC site. Also the presence of a gas station located adjacent to the north and topographically upgradient and that the site was a previous LUST site is another factor to be considered. Though the contractor was not granted full access into the property, but equipments such as electrical transformers, capacitors, hydraulic service lift and fluorescent light ballasts were found within the premises from a distance and this is a potential for PCB contamination

Former Use: The site is a 0.196 acres of land with a house and attached garage and is located immediately northwest of the intersection of Georgia Ave., and Gallatin Street, in the 16th St. Heights neighborhood of northwest Washington DC. The site is vacant and is located in a mixed-use area consisting of commercial and residential land uses.Historically, the site consisted of residences from 1922 through 1931; followed by the Little Tavern shops and restaurant from 1936 through 1960; followed by a used auro sales, a dwelling, office and a restaurant from 1960 through at least 1998. The site is identified as being owned by Mohammaed Eskandari from 2000 to present. There was no information on the facility from 1931 through 1936.
