Additional Property Attributes

The Lorain CDF was constructed in 1977 and is constructed from rubble mound and steel sheet pile. The entire CDF covers approximately 58 acres and has a total sediment capacity of 1,850,000 cubic yards. The CDF is a peninsula jetting into Lake Erie and is generally flat. The dredge material placed into the CDF is dewatered by seepage through the dike walls and by discharge through an overflow weir into Lake Erie. Treatment of the effluent is achieved through settling and filtration through the dike wall. Groundwater was not encountered during the Limited Phase II investigation, but based on the construction of the CDF, Lake Erie and groundwater under the CDF are in communication, so groundwater at the Property likely flows to the north and west, towards Lake Erie.

Former Use: Former man-made dike filled with dredge sediment.
