Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property operated as Hercor Chemical Corporation. The property became contaminated in the production of p-xylene, an aromatic hydrocarbon, based on benzene with two methyl substituents. P-Xylene is used on a large scale for the manufacture of terephthalic acid for polyester. The company also rented large petroleum tanks. During the years of operation (1966-82) the company was not supervised by regulatory agencies which brings the notion and high suspicion that the company Hercor did poorly in terms of contamination control.
