Additional Property Attributes

Operation of the Texaco Guayanilla Termal began in 1919 and the facility was used as a fuel storage terminal until 1985. Up to that date, gasoline (aviation and motor vehicles) and middle distillate were stored in five vertical ASTs, as well as three horizontal ASTs with an approximate 10,000 gallon capacity each. The Terminal was closed from 1985 to 1989, when construction of Texacos lube blending plant began in 1989, with start-up of the plant in March 1990. The lube blending plant operated until December 2004. The facility consisted of the pier, several storage tanks, lube blending manufacturing facilities, warehouses, office buildings and other miscellaneous buildings. The eastern half of the site has been mined for Ponce limestone between 1993 and 2006.

Former Use: The site is currently abandoned and unused. The lube blending plant previously in operation by Texaco was closed in 2004. The site is currently owned by Peerless Oil and Chemicals, Inc., which purchased the site from Chevron in November 2006. Four large Above-ground Storage Tanks (ASTs) located on the southwestern corner of the site. Two groups of small ASTs, including four located at the extreme southwest corner near a small pier; and five in a row further to the east. The diameters of the small ASTs range from 10 to 20 feet. The diameters of the large ASTs range from 40 to 90 feet. A fifth large AST with a diameter of 95 feet was removed from the southwest corner of the site sometime between 2006 and 2012. There are six large buildings or caopies and a number of smaller structures located along the southern edge of the site near the southwest end of the peninsula. These range from 13,000 square feet to to 3,150 square feet. A 7,500 square-foot structure associate with a previous mining operation is located on the eastern half of the site. A small pier of approximately 470 feet extends toward the southwest in to the Bahia de Guayanilla.
