Additional Property Attributes

The City of Wilmington, the current property owner, is seeking to transfer ownership of this site to the Southside Community Development Corporation, Inc., (SCDC) which operates as a non-profit community development corporation. SCDC intends to redevelop the site for mixed use.

Former Use: Based upon historical research, the site was developed with residential dwellings from at least 1915 until sometime before 1949. Since at least 1949, the site has been developed as a bus maintenance and storage facility. The site was purchased by the City in 1974 and has been occupied by various transit companies (i.e., Safeway Transit Company, Wilmington Transit Authority, Cape Fear Public Transit Authority, etc.) since at least 1969.
