Property Highlights

The cleanup completion date of 2001 was removed during NPR so that this accomplishment will not be double counted with the cleanup grant. Secondly, the cleanup on this property is not completed yet. The assessment dates and funding were removed during NPR so that this accomplishment will not be double counted with the TBA grant awarded to this grantee for this property. They are a Phase I completed on 3/31/2002 for $78,445.52; a Phase II completed on 6/30/2001 for $20,078; additional assessment funding of $40,698, and $363. All assessment funds listed as EPA Pilot Assessment funds. The assessment funds total $139,554.52.

Former Use: This property was formerly used as a disposal area for fly ash generated from burning coal to operate the former Reigel textile mill located just to the south of the disposal area. The remains of a former concrete settling basin that accepted wastewater generated at the mill is also located on the property. The Reigel Mill operated from approximately 1902 to 1980, but the specific dates of operation of the disposal area and settling basin are not known.
