Additional Property Attributes

The property is comprised of vacant land, which includes a vegetated field and two drainage ditches. The property was formerly used as a bulk petroleum storage and dispensary from 1969 to 1999. A petroleum release was reported in March 1997 after diesel fuel was observed seeping out of the ground following a filling of a 10,000 gallon AST. Dec 2015 monitoring results from 9 of the 10 monitoring wells sampled exceeded DEQ RBSLs for VPH. Impacts were greatest at the SW monitoring wells. In general, petroleum hydrocarbon (PHC) concentrations at the Site decreased since the removal of contaminated soil in 2005. Decreasing concentrations of VPH in wells MW-13 and MW-18 suggest natural attenuation is occurring on the plume fringe; however, increasing VPH concentrations in MW-3, MW-9, and MW-16 suggest that contaminant plume may be increasing to the SW and NE. The source mass contributing to the contaminant plume is likely the contaminated soil below the east irrigation ditch and Highway 2. In 2016, DEQ used state funding to conduct oxidiation injections near the highway; however, the property is still in monitoring and additional cleanup may be required by the state.

Former Use: The site was a Bulk Petroleum Storage & Dispensing Facility from 1969 to 1999. Facility contained three 10,000-gallon & three 15,000-gallon Aboveground Storage Tanks (ASTs), a bulk loading rack, underground product piping, and dispensers. Equity Co-op stored gasoline and diesel fuel in the ASTs at the site. The Co-op filled their fuel truck from the bulk facility, and then would make local fuel deliveries. Other vehicles, including private cars, could fill from the facility's dispensers via a key-troll system. On March 24, 1997 a petroleum release was reported to DEQ. In October 1999, the ASTs & piping previously used by the business were removed from the facility. Substantial site assessment and cleanup have occurred at the site since, but no subsequent business operations have occurred. In 1999, Equity Co-op removed the ASTs and associated piping. In 2005, a total of 7,968 cubic yards of soil were removed from the property. Monitoring data from 2009 and 2010 shows that residual contamination remains at the property. The property is located at a major intersection on US Highway 2.
