Property Highlights

The property was formerly operated as the Crawford County Jail from 1954 to 2004. The jail operated a gasoline underground storage tank (UST) for fueling County automobiles. Naphthalene, 1-methylnaphthalene, and 2-methylnaphthalene were detected in the soil beneath the former UST at concentrations exceeding the IDEM RCG residential screening levels. Asbestos containing materials were also identified in the building. Cleanup activities were conducted at the site in 2016 including the demolition of the site structure and removal of impacted soil. The property is currently green space.
