Additional Property Attributes

The property is currently a vacant former supermarket. Phase II activities included a geophysical investigation, subsurface investigation, an exploratory investigation, and an asbestos inspection. Lead, naphthalene, and benzo(a)pyrene were detected in the soil beneath the property at concentrations exceeding the IDEM RCG residential screening levels. Lead was detected in pit water located in a subsurface vault at a concentration exceeding the IDEM RCG residential screening level. Asbestos containing materials were identified in the structure.

Former Use: The property is situated in a relatively flat area characterized by residential land uses. There is one unoccupied building on the property. The building is currently used as storage for various antiques and household items. According to Town officials, past uses of the property included a grocery store that sold gasoline. No underground tanks were identified on the property during assessment activities.
