Property Highlights

This property was a coal plant from 1968 to 2008. Past industrial usage constituted a recognized environmental condition. Prior investigations reported arsenic, naphthalene, and tetrachloroethane in the soil and groundwater at concentrations exceeding the IDEM RCG screening levels. Asbestos and lead-based paint were also identified in the on-site structures. The City is currently evaluating options for redevelopment.

Former Use: he property is currently an inactive coal power plant. The power plant operated from 1968 to the shut-down transitional period of 2008 to 2013. The current owner is the City of Jasper, who acquired the property from Jasper Turning Company.
