Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Based on reviewed historical use documents, it appears that the Property was undeveloped in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The Northern Tract has historically been occupied by a house (which was converted to a salon/barber shop in the 1980s) and outbuildings on the northeast portion (from at least 1920 to 2001) while the remainder has historically existed as a field and/or farmland that was filled with soil (along with concrete/brick debris) from the 1970s through the 1990s. This tract has been owned by McGill since 2001 and has existed as vacant, unused land since that time. The Main Tract has been used for manufacturing purposes since the early 1900s. It was initially occupied by a foundry (Hance Foundry) then was expanded in the 1920s (Hance Manufacturing) to include a machine shop; and then was used by Kilgore Manufacturing for the production of toy pistols and paper caps from at least the 1930s to the 1950s. Significant operations identified for Kilgore include stamping, chemical mixing, machining, paint dipping, metal casting (foundry), cleaning/plating, and manufacturing of flares/munition during the war. Additionally, it was reported that Kilgore had buried chemicals throughout the site and that plating solutions had been discharged into underground holding tanks by Kilgore; and records indicate the use of cisterns, equipment pits, sumps, and floor drains in manufacturing areas. McGill, a metal duct manufacturer, has occupied the Main Tract since 1961 and primary processes have included cutting, bending, rolling, welding, and painting.
