Additional Property Attributes

This property was utilized as a commercial plant nursery (Al's Nursery) which was a family-run business and a private residence since the late 1950s. After nursery shut down in 2011. The property was eventually purchased by Windmill School, Inc. (a non-profit organization-preschool), to redevelop into facility that will consist of 9000 sq feet of building for classrooms, teachers' offices, and a gathering hall. It will include a beautiful outdoor, nature-based play yard for each classroom and outdoor gathering spaces in the Redwoods for community events. The completed facility will be expanded to include K-8th grade afterschool enrichment programs.

Former Use: Property was utilized as a family-owned, commercial nursery. A Phase I environmental study revealed widespread pesticide contamination (DDT, chlordane and dieldrin) within top 12 inches of soil around wooden structures and areas where plant inventory was housed. The main property was cleaned up by then-current owners (Tate) in early 2015, leaving only a drain pipe (containing contaminated soil) that led into adjoining property and into Sausal Creek to cleanup. Windmill School purchased the property 4.15.15.
