Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Based on the historical review, it appears that the Property was undeveloped in 1856. The northwest portion was occupied by a livery (late 1800s to early 1900s); and various commercial businesses and stores (1910-1970s) including a gas/service station with three identified gas tanks between 1935 and 1969. The north portion was used for flask storage in the late 1800s, feed/hay storage in the early 1900s. Then it was occupied by a candy manufacturer, black smith and printing operation [67 N. Main] (circa 1915); a boiler house/meter building for Northern Ohio Traction & Light (circa 1920); and a gas station with three identified gas tanks [69 N. Main] (1920s-1970s). Residences were also present (late 1800s -1940s) as well as parking lots (1940s-1950s) on the North portion. The Main portion was occupied by a machine shop including a foundry and castings building (late 1800s to early 1900s); Northern Ohio Traction/Power & Light (1915-1930s) which included a train/trolley shed [current covered parking structure] and several sets of train/trolley tracks; Langells Garage (1920s); a bus station (1925-1940s); and Ohio Edison (1930s to early 1980s) garage and parking which included use of a gas tank identified in High St. near the southeast corner of the Property. From the early 1980s to the present, the entire Property has been occupied by Summit County and primarily used for parking; however, it was also used for vehicle maintenance prior to the 2000s.
