Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Eavey Building was constructed in 1908 as a grocery warehouse for Eavey Grocery Stores and was used as such for nearly 50 years. A new warehouse was constructed in 1959 but the Eavey Building was still used for warehousing perishables as well as offices for Midwest Merchandising. The building was sold to the Lewis & Michael warehousing firm in 1963. In 1978, Central US Industries woodworking and JLM Industries Inc. (specialists in sandblasting, vibratory and barrel deburring, and metal rust proofing) occupied the warehouse until at least 1982. Global Exchange used the property for storage in the late 1980s. In 1992, Julian and Associates, Inc. sold the property to Shirley and Stephen Jette of whom Stephen Jette is the current property owner. Recently, portions of the building have housed a candy store and antique mall, while other portions of the building remained vacant.
