Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Based on reviewed historical documents, it appears that the Site was undeveloped prior to 1917 when a carburetor manufacturing plant was constructed. The majority of the Site was used for carburetor manufacturing (by Tillotson Manufacturing and later by Borg Warner who purchased the company) from 1917 until 1976. Primary operations included machining, and a gas tank was identified inside the south-central portion of the plant on maps dated 1936-1976. The very northeastern portion of the Site was also occupied by a very small office building, restaurant and store between the 1930s and 1950s. Very limited information regarding specific occupants of these buildings was identified. The Site was occupied by Lucas County and Lott Industries from circa 1977 to 2006. During this time, the Site building was used for equipment/paint/vehicle/tool storage; a wood shop; offices; auto parts assembly; and a small print shop. No vehicle maintenance was conducted at the Site during this time, and the print shop operated on the 2nd or 3rd floor between 1994 and 2006. Three fuel oil storage tanks (one AST and two USTs) were removed from the Site or abandoned in place in 1990 during occupancy by Lott Industries. The Site has been unoccupied since 2006.
