Additional Property Attributes

The Lifecycle Building Center (LBC), a local nonprofit diverting useable building materials from landfills into homes, businesses, and nonprofits, purchased this brownfield in 2016 after leasing it for 5 years. As part of LBC's due diligence in purchasing the former foundry, the City's Brownfield Program completed Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), asbestos and lead-based paint survey, and prepared a cleanup plan. LBC then applied and was awarded a site-specific brownfield cleanup grant by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Between property acquisition, the EPA cleanup grant and planned renovations to the property after the cleanup is done (estimated to be late 2019 or early 2020), the City's ESAs will leverage nearly $3.5 million. It was identified as a brownfield in the 2010 City of Atlanta-U.S. EPA Brownfield Area Wide Planning study. LBC has started an application for a RLF subgrant from the City of Atlanta's Brownfield Program. Former Use: Historically a foundry. Then the property was underutilized for several years until the Lifecycle Building Center started renting and then purchased the property for a building material reuse center.
