Additional Property Attributes

Currently, the Site accommodates two structures: the Salvation Army Thrift Store and the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center. A baseball field is located on the northwestern portion of the Site, as well as a vacant and heavily vegetated area located west and southwest of the baseball field. Additionally, a green space exists south of the two structures along the southern boundary of the Site. A ?spoil pile? located on the western portion of the Site is illustrated on the site plan provided in the ?Application for Environmental Services? submitted by the Salvation Army to the Austin Brownfields Redevelopment Office. Because of the unknown contents of the debris pile, the City used funds to determine whether the debris pile had contamination. The resulting report showed no contamination. The Salvation Army is seeking $5 million from the City of Austin in order to expand their operations at this site. As of October 2016, it is unknown where the required funding will come from. Former Use: The Site consists of both developed and undeveloped areas, and the Salvation Army plans to develop approximately 3.25 acres of an undeveloped part of the property for commercial/residential purposes. A multistory structure, parking lot, and landscaping is proposed for construction to support a rehabilitation center (including affordable, supportive housing) for women.
