Additional Property Attributes

The site was used for 60 years as a scrap/salvage yard and for additionally for about 28 years for recycling of batteries. The site is located adjacent to a residential area. Shallow soils are impacted mainly with arsenic (naturally occurring in this area) and lead above applicable state standards. PCBs were identified in a few of the soil samples, some above applicable standards for industrial use. While VOCs, PAHs, and PCBs were not reported above applicable state standards for groundwater underneath the site, some samples showed As, Cd and lead concentrations above applicable state standards. Off-site groundwater lead concentrations (total and dissolved) are below applicable state standards.

Former Use: The site is located adjacent to a residential area and rail road tracks and zoned The site is zoned MH, Heavy Industrial & Manufacturing District and has been improved with two storage /office buildings. The site was operated as a scrap yard for at least 60 year, and used for recycling of batteries for approximately 28 years. Operations ceased in 2015. The current site owner is Melvin Kelley Tower. Previous owners were not identified in the County assessor�s records.
