Former Use: Formerly a manufacturer of electronic components and connections for the computer and communications industries, Tyco Electronics closed its doors at its plant on Hamilton Street in Carlisle in 2009, leaving 117 unemployed. Tyco still owns the site. According to documents filed with the PADEP, industrial activities have resulted in a contaminated soil and groundwater. The PADEP�s Act 2 process has been completed using a combination of engineering and institutional controls to eliminate any potential exposure pathways to contamination that remains on the site. Several developers have expressed interest in the property, but may require additional assessments depending on the reuse, or to secure loans prior to commencing with development.
