Property Highlights

The Ogallala Groundwater Contamination Site underlays a majority of the subject site. The City of Ogallala has enacted an ordinance to restrict the use of groundwater for domestic purposes. Current exposure to contaminants is not occurring due to the installation of a new water well field located northeast of Ogallala.The Progress Elementary building previously located on the site was constructed in 1950. Asbestos abatement was completed before the structure was safely demolished in 2015.Development of the new Kathleen Lute Public Library was completed in July 2020 and is now open to the public.
