Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The subject property is comprised of two adjacent properties (Parcel #s 2078-00000 and 2079-00000) located at 1208 Oak Street in the City of Baraboo, Sauk County, Wisconsin. At the time of this assessment, the subject property was improved with an approximate 34,000 square-foot, three-story building constructed in 1945 with a building addition, an approximate 324 square-foot detached garage and an approximate 48 square-foot concrete block building that was most likely historically used as a well house. At the time of this assessment, the subject property was unoccupied. Historically, the subject property was occupied by residential dwellings and most notably by the Al Ringling residence. In 1922, the Ringling family donated the property and their house for use as a hospital. In 1945, the current three-story brick building was added to the north side of the original Ringling residence, with the home demolished later. A single-story addition with a partial basement was added to the west end of the building, extending to the south in the 1950s. In 1963, the building was converted to a home for retired members of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary and utilized until 1998. Since 1998, the subject property has been unoccupied.
