Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Pahranagat Valley High School was established in the 1921 1922 school year. The property the high school currently occupies consists of a main building, constructed in 1965; gymnasium, constructed in 1965; an art and technology building, constructed in 1975; and a shop building, constructed in 1975. The shop building is located at 216 South Main Street, in Alamo, Lincoln County, Nevada. The building is situated east of South Main Street and Pahranagat Street, west of the football field, and south of the school building along Weeping Willow Street. A fire at the Pahranagat High School Auto Shop occurred on February 24, 2016. Prior to the fire, the impacted area of the building was utilized as classroom space. Pahranagat Valley High School is one of only three high schools in the Lincoln County School District, and this facility is vital for the community of Alamo, Nevada. There is concern about the potential presence of dioxins and furans as a result of the structural fire, as well as potential mercury leakage from aged lighting ballasts.
