Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The site is located at 17 Church Street, parcel 34-90. Various buildings and uses are documented for the site. Scattered lumber piles were identified on Sanborn Maps from 1892 and 1898, and the 1898 Sanborn Map also shows a blacksmith shop at the northern portion of the lot. Between 1898 and 1912, several additional buildings were constructed on the parcel: a wheelwright and painting shop replaced the blacksmith shop at the northern portion of the site; a building labeled �hens� was located in the western portion of the site; and three sheds and one storage building were constructed in the southern portion of the property, just north of the B&M railroad spur. Between 1912 and 1921, two of the shed buildings at the southern portion of the parcel were removed, blacksmith operations were also documented in the wheelwright building, and the painting operations apparently ceased and were replaced with storage. By 1941, the southerly sheds were expanded and used for lumber, and two aboveground oil tanks on a concrete cradle were present to the east of the buildings. Only one storage building remained at the northerly portion of the site. By 1958, two additional oil tanks were located on apparent concrete dikes north of the older ASTs. The former lumber storage was used as grain storage, and a new grain storage building was located to the east of the older ASTs. The former storage building on the northern portion of the site is labeled as an office building. Aerial photos available for the parcel indicate the buildings were demolished between 1985 and 1998, and the ASTs were removed prior to 1998 (aerial photos prior to 1998 were of poor quality such that the presence/absence of the ASTs was not clear).
