Additional Property Attributes

Bearings Bike Shop requested Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) during their acquisition due diligence period in 2016. The site sits on the BeltLine Westside Trail and has a distinctive Quonset hut. For years, a metal fabricator and an automotive service and repair shop operated on the site. City of Atlanta Phase I and II ESAs in 2016 has lead to over an estimated $2.86 million investment in redeveloping Bearings Bike Shop, including property acquisition in 2017 for $450,000. Bearings completed its purchase in 2017. Bearings Bike Shop is a non-profit, youth development organization where local kids can earn and maintain a bicycle while developing important skills and character. In 2018, the organization kicked-off a capital campaign to raise funds to further improve the property. The organization met their fundraising goal of over $2 million in the summer of 2019. The property was identified as a brownfield in the 2010 City of Atlanta-U.S. EPA Brownfield Area Wide Planning study.

Former Use: Metal fabricator on the site until the 1980s and then the property was used as a car repair shop.
