Additional Property Attributes

The Property was situated on the north side of Ash Street. Three buildings were located on the Property: Building 1 - 13,2444-square-foot, two-story building with a basement on the west side of the Property. Building 1 was a former elementary school but did not have an active tenant at the time of the site reconnaissance. The two-story building had a basement. The interior of Building 1 consisted mainly of classrooms and storage closets. A natural gas boiler, located in the sprinkler room in the basement, was used to heat Building 1 and provided hot water. IDA observed numerous retail-sized containers (capacities of one gallon and less) of various cleansers and maintenance chemicals and some 5-gallon buckets of paint in different rooms of Building 1. Building 2 - 14,800-square-foot, three-story building on the south side of the Property. Building 2 was a partially vacant, former elementary school building. At the time of the reconnaissance, a portion of Building 2 was being used as classrooms. The building consisted mainly of classrooms that were individually accessed through outside doors located along breezeways with shade canopies. Community bathrooms were observed on each floor of Building 2. IDA observed projectors, boxes, tables, chairs, computers and security equipment, and other miscellaneous items in Building 2. Building 3 - 1,404-square-foot, one-story building on the east side of the Property. Building 3 was being used as a library/computer room. The interior of Building 3 consisted mainly of an open classroom with a small kitchen located in the southern portion of the building. IDA observed typical classroom items, such as projectors, chairs, tables and papers inside the building.

Former Use: The Property vicinity was likely developed in the 1870s when the mineral region that encompasses Globe and Miami was removed from the San Carlos Apache Reservation and designated as public land named the Globe Mining District. Based on IDAs review of historical documents, Building 1 was constructed in 1917, Building 2 in 1961, and Building 3 in 1975. Currently, the Property appears to be used as the Globe Education Center, an Alternative School.
