In 2015 the City of Barre started to implement its North Main Street to Summer Street Master Plan which lays out areas for new on-street parking, reconfigured parking courts, improved streetscape, new housing and a continuous pedestrian connection through the area. The Keith Ave and Pearl Street brownfields site is identified on the plan and is slated to be redeveloped as one of the parking courts. Since 2015, new housing has been built to the north of the site and the Ormsby�s building was demolished. Environmental site assessments were conducted and under the CVRPC EPA brownfields Grant a Partial Corrective Action Plan (CAP) was finalized.

Former Use: The approximately 0.67-acre downtown site is located between North Main and Summer Street within the heart of historic Barre City. Several structures have occupied the site stretching back well into the 19th century. Past uses included the Barre Steam Laundry and later Sunshine Cleaners laundromat. Buildings associated with these uses were demolished in the early 1980�s; and in more recent history a rectangular one-story structure occupied the southeast corner of the site which housed offices, storage, and repair room for Ormsby�s Computer Systems (a computer repair company).
